Description Technical details

The Pietra Pinta company is located in Cori, Lazio, geographically 55 kilometers south of Rome and 25 from the provincial capital of Latina. The town is located on the western side of the Lepini mountains, which surround it to the northeast, forming a splendid backdrop with stony ground and centuries-old olive trees. The name of the company derives from the locality of the same name on the slopes of the Coresi hills where legend has it that following a bloody battle between the followers of Mario and Silla (80 BC) a large stone was dyed purple in memory of the event. The vineyards are located in the countryside of Cori, on the slopes of the Lepini Mountains, under the influence of the sea currents that come from the Lazio coast. This guarantees hot and dry summers followed by cool and breezy autumns, with strong temperature variations between day and night during the ripening period of the grapes. The soils, of volcanic origin, are clayey of medium texture, with a balanced supply of nutrients, which allow the development of quality viticulture. The Nero Buono, an ancient vineyard typical of the territory of the municipality of Cori, which has always been cultivated in our vineyards, in recent years has been the subject of studies that have enhanced its organoleptic characteristics, making it rediscover to the public as a great treasure remained for centuries in the darkness, but which, like all small productions, always has something new to show us. So this vine of ours, unique of its kind, has been for us a source of inspiration for the recovery and relaunch of territorial production, as well as an example of the quality that our territory is able to offer. Our vineyards are cultivated with espalier with simple guyot pruning. The newly conceived vineyard counts 4500 vines per hectare with a production of 1.5 kg of grapes per plant. Management involves first thinning of the shoots and then of the bunches, while treatments and fertilizations follow the philosophy of low environmental impact agriculture. The harvest takes place when the grapes are perfectly ripe, which on average occurs for the first ten days of October.

Zefira Malvasia Puntinata by Pietra Pinta presents itself as an oenological expression of remarkable complexity and finesse, resulting from a meticulous vinification of the grapes of the native Malvasia Puntinata vine. This vine, characterized by small berries and a peculiar dotting on the skin during maturation, finds in the terroir of Pietra Pinta a particularly suitable soil and climate environment, giving the wine distinctive organoleptic characteristics.

Straw yellow in color with golden reflections and clear. On the nose it is intense and complex, with notes of white flowers (hawthorn, jasmine), aromatic herbs (sage, thyme) and white fruit (peach, apricot), sometimes with hints of citrus and minerals. With aging it can develop hints of honey and dried fruit. On the palate it is fresh and savoury, with good acidity balanced by softness. The fruity and floral flavours perceived on the nose return, with a persistent and clean finish, sometimes with a light almond note. Zefira Malvasia Puntinata di Pietra Pinta goes well with light fish-based dishes, fresh vegetables and delicate cheeses, creating a balance of flavours that enhances its freshness and aroma.
