Talisker is a peaty 2020 special release single malt scotch whisky, aged in ex-bourbon barrels and then aged for a few months in barrels previously used for rum, before being then bottled at a full alcohol content of 57.9%. The first Talisker to age in ex-rum barrels extremely pleasant and all to be enjoyed.
The history of the Talisker distillery begins as far back as 1830, founded by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill on the Isle of Skye, in the Scottish Highlands in a landscape of verdant coasts and jagged rocky bays full of charm, bathed by the North Sea. Here we produce one of the single malts most appreciated by connoisseurs that the writer Louis Stevenson defined as “the best drink in the world”. The manufacturing process is very accurate, respectful of tradition, with a double distillation system. But the real success of this distillate is the raw material, that is the malt and spring water already rich in peat that flows from the undergrounds of “Cnoc-nan-speirag”, hawk hill in Gaelic. Hence the intense and peaty flavor that makes it a unique single malt and for “cultured” palates.
The Talisker 8 yo special release 2020 is a single malt scotch whisky that reveals its classic marine and smoky essence to the nose, including notes of algae, iodine and hints of rum, molasses and tropical fruit. In the mouth, hints of caramel, cooked apples and toasted bananas stand out, combined with a good dose of peat smoke and a pinch of pepper. An intriguing and surprising whisky that envelops the palate.
