In 1846, Filippo Mazzetti founded his first distillery in Montemagno, in the heart of Monferrato, and began carefully selecting what was initially considered a waste product from wine production: pomace. It wasn’t easy to source the finest raw materials from winemakers scattered throughout the most remote areas of Monferrato, but the determination of Filippo, and then his son Luigi, gave rise to a company philosophy that has led to the production of some of the world’s finest grappas. The pursuit of quality and the continuous refinement of distillation techniques are today the secrets to the success of a sixth-generation distillery, capable of sharing the immense sensory heritage present in every Monferrato grape with the entire world.
