Capo Martino is much more than a wine; it's the story of a land, a family, and a tradition that endures through time. Elegant and profound, it stems from a simple yet ambitious idea: to capture the authentic soul of Friuli in a glass. Every sip is a journey through intense aromas and captivating sensations, captivating from the very first moment.
The Jermann winery, founded in 1881 in the heart of the Collio Friulano, was born from the passion of a family of Slovenian origins who transformed themselves from sharecroppers to leading figures in Italian wine. The turning point came in the 1970s with Silvio Jermann, who revolutionized the winery’s production style, bringing it to international prominence with elegant, complex, and innovative wines. Today, Jermann is a benchmark for great Italian white wines, combining tradition, research, and profound respect for the land. The winery is rooted in the agricultural tradition of the Collio Goriziano, embodying a production philosophy that combines respect for the land and historical memory. From the vision of great-grandfather Anton to the most recent generations, the goal has always been to create authentic wines, a true expression of the land and its native varieties. Capo Martino represents the evolution of this journey, keeping alive traditional techniques and the original spirit.
Capo Martino is made from a blend of native white grapes grown in the heart of the Collio region, on “ponca” soils rich in marl and sandstone. The grapes are vinified with brief maceration on the skins, following traditional methods, and the wine ages in oak barrels for approximately 10 months before being bottled for a long time. The result is a structured, elegant, and complex white wine, capable of evolving over time and revealing great expressive depth.
It displays a luminous golden yellow. The nose is intense and complex, with notes of ripe and tropical fruit, dried flowers, and a delicate hint of vanilla; hints of apple, banana, hazelnut, broom, and passionflower emerge. On the palate, it is velvety, balanced, and persistent, with a fine aromatic quality that accompanies a long finish.
It pairs perfectly with rich seafood dishes, such as roasted octopus, shellfish, fish soups, and legume-based preparations.
