This Brut Nature was born from the encounter between the Maison Louis Roederer and the designer Philippe Starck, in one of the best vintages of Champagne like 2012. A memorable year full of sun, to which juicy and ripe Pinot Noir grapes are owed, and a series of great rare and unrepeatable wines.
The story of one of the last Maison de Champagne still independent and among the most renowned in the world, owes its success to the resourcefulness, foresight and genius of its founder Louis Roederer in the early nineteenth century. It was he who embarked on the purchase of the Grands Crus de Champagne with an enlightened approach that was based on the careful selection of the land and vineyards even before the grapes. From here it traces a furrow that will mark the inexorable path towards the success of the Maison and its family. An esthete and great scholar he invented the first “cuvée de prestige” with the name of Cristal in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II , which definitively consolidated the reputation of excellence conquered by the Maison. Today at the seventh generation of the dynasty with Frédéric Rouzard, the estate extend for 240 hectares in the Vallée de la Marne and exclusively include Grands and Premiers Crus, increasingly aligned with the principles of biodynamics, Louis Roederer is at the top of the Champagne production with his 3 million bottles shipped to over one hundred countries in the world.
Brut Nature 2012 is an extraordinary cuvée of Pinot Noir for 55%, Meunier for 25% and Chardonnay for 20%. A vintage characterized by adverse weather conditions, with low yields but with grapes reaching a rare level of ripeness, as often happens in the most difficult seasons. At sight it shows a golden yellow color with green reflections, fine, dense and delicate perlage. The bouquet is an irresistible riot of aromas, from peach, to candied lemon with notes of hazelnut, baked apple and caramelized accennio. On the palate the attack is juicy, and then gives way to a flavor and freshness such as to cancel the initial round sensations, and close with a decisive, clean, elegant sensation. A Champagne made of contrasts that come together in a unique and rare taste.
