We wanted to create an event of real substance, centred on fine wine but also on good food and art, a perfect combination to move and surprise the participants: Circeo diVino was a truly demanding event to organise, but a hugely rewarding one.
This was the first year of this two-day event – it took place on 26 and 27 August 2023 – and we fully intend to repeat it until it becomes a regular fixture of summer in Circeo.
The star, of course, was wine, thanks to the participation of more than 50 wineries from all over Italy, with around 150 wines to taste in total. From North to South, we were joined by names such as San Michele Appiano, Corvé, Tenuta Carretta, Mirabella, Zenato, Velenosi, Marco Carpineti, Casata Mergé, Paolo e Noemia d’Amico, Cottarella, Milazzo and Cottanera. Alongside the wines there were also interesting spirits and food tasting stands, all with a focus on quality and on promoting the local area.
And while all this created an exclusive, high-calibre atmosphere in the open spaces of the old town, the masterclasses and dedicated tastings took place in the Torre dei Templari, the town council chamber and the park gate that houses the Proloco, with limited places and a focus on special tastings and sips. To name just a few: we were joined by Claudio Cerati, owner of Upstream, one of the finest smoked salmons in the world, and Enrico Baldin with his extraordinary Encry Champagnes.
And there was more: the tasting dedicated to a remarkable vertical of Fiorduva Marisa Cuomo, the masterclass on the art of sabrage and the one on Alta Langa. Particularly popular was the emotional tasting, in which each sip was told through music that heightened the pleasure of the tasting.
Our beautiful village on the promontory, with its enchanting view over the gulf, made the setting magical. Our company was founded in San Felice Circeo in 1987 with the Gusto e Tradizione shop; from the very beginning the aim was to offer the best of Italian food and wine. For almost 10 years we have also been pursuing this mission online with My Wine Store, a wine shop dedicated to the world of wine and fine drinking. We put the same spirit we have always worked with into this event, because Circeo diVino was created to promote Italian quality but also the local area; it was a moment of togetherness made possible by wine and food as a form of art and culture.
This was the first edition, organised with a great deal of effort and enthusiasm, and made possible thanks to the collaboration of many people: sommeliers, coordinators, the town council and the Proloco. An important addition to summer in Circeo, with every reason to be repeated!
