The Fuselli family has carried the philosophy of Terre del Marchesato through generations, in a winery that gives an authentic voice to the Bolgheri tradition. With Papeo, Maurizio wanted to celebrate a place from his childhood: Poggio Papeo, a rise between Bolgheri and Monteverdi where, as a boy, he went with his grandfather Emilio to gather firewood. An affection that today has become a wine that stands for their roots. Marchesale is the flagship wine of Terre del Marchesato, today a DOC Bolgheri Superiore. It began as a pure Syrah and since 2017 has evolved into a refined blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, giving the fullest expression of the elegance of the Bolgheri terroir. Fermentation takes place in conical steel vats with a long maceration, followed by extended ageing in French oak barriques and a further rest in the bottle. In the glass it shows an intense, bright ruby red. On the nose come scents of blackberry, blackcurrant and ripe fruit, alongside elegant balsamic notes of mint, black pepper, citrus and bergamot. On the palate it is structured, soft and balanced, with pleasant hints of dark cocoa and a long, lingering finish. Perfect with pappardelle in pork ragù, grilled meat, roast suckling pig, porchetta and aged cheeses such as Pecorino and Parmigiano. Outstanding with bistecca alla fiorentina.
