Kermesse Grande Cuvée

The village of Caldaro, located north of Tramin along the wine road, is one of the most important vineyards in South Tyrol. Here, halfway between the lake of the same name and the village, the main estate of the company is: Castel Ringberg. The vineyard surrounds the imposing castle, overlooking the scenic landscape overlooking the lake. Fermentation in steel and partly wood with maceration of 10 days on the marc and subsequent malolactic fermentation in barrels. Maturation in French oak barriques for a duration of 16 months. Maceration at low temperatures for 48 hours, followed by traditional fermentation, partially in large Slovenia oak vats, partially in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation follows and, the final wine matures in French oak barrels for another 16 months.

All grape varieties but the Cabernet Sauvginon (which tends to ripen later) get harvested on the same day and are processed all together. The must ferments for approximately 20 days in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation and maturation for 18 months in French oak barriques (Limousine and Allier), almost all of which are new. Finally, the wine matures for several months in the bottle before being released.

Our Kermesse blend stands out with its strong, intensive purple red color and an intensive, multilayered bouquet: spicy with light, smoky tobacco notes, some pepper and chocolate, fruity with red berries, wild berries and dried figs. Powerful, yet elegant und harmonic on the palate, with well integrated tannins, delicate toast aromas and spicy fullness, with much potential and a long finish. A wine with lots of finesse and character.
