Founded in 1825 by the Rate brothers, the Glenkinchie distillery is one of the last historic survivors of the Scottish Lowlands. A few kilometres from Edinburgh, set among gentle hills and barley fields, it still keeps to traditional methods, such as its cast-iron worm tub. Its unique, delicate style is the result of a long craft tradition handed down over the centuries.
This Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a limited edition of remarkable standing. Distilled in 1991 and aged 24 years in European oak, it shows an elegant antique gold. Each numbered bottle holds an intense, complex spirit, an authentic expression of the Glenkinchie style.
The nose releases refined notes of gooseberry, chestnut honey, propolis and sealing wax, with light peaty and iodine shades. The palate is powerful but balanced, with a dry structure and a very long persistence. Ideal on its own, it is a perfect match for dark chocolate, mature cheeses, dried fruit and honey-based desserts.
