Glen Elgin virgin oak Wilson & Morgan

Glen Elgin Distillery was founded way back in 1890 in the heart of the Spyside. Until the 1950s it was still powered by paraffins and even today, walking through the distillery, you can breathe an air that takes you back in time despite having had significant structural improvements. The perpetual screw cooling tanks give it a unique character appreciated by the distillery’s admirers.

Wilson & Morgan is an independent bottler who since 1992 selects the best single malts to continue aging in ex sherry, marsala or bourbon barrels. The result is decidedly superior: young whiskeys, capable of thrilling with their sincere and sincere intensity and rare
single malt in limited and numbered edition, aged up to 40 years. A collection created by connoisseurs for true enthusiasts: the intensity and genuine character of the typical production areas can be found in the Wilson & Morgan whiskeys.

The light amber whiskey barrels for this fine 46% Barrel Selection are personally chosen by Fabio Rossi, President of Wilson & Morgan, from several Scottish distilleries. Rossi selects only the most natural and flavourful whiskeys that have not been cold filtered, thus avoiding any loss of flavor, and to which no caramel has been added. As such, these whiskeys are mostly lighter in color, purer in taste, and “a damn more sincere sight” than many others.

A very delicate and fragrant single malt from Speyside, but with new exciting twists thanks to the contribution of Virgin Oak. The sunny malty typical of this distillery is accompanied on the nose by slightly citrus notes, a hint of beeswax, chamomile and wild flowers. Sweet, balanced and absolutely traditional. The influence of the barrels begins to be felt at the first sip: it is still a flowery, delicate, clean and fragrant whiskey, but with a richer body than usual. The sweetness is almost honeyed, with pleasant notes of vanilla and banana, but after a few seconds its profile begins to take a turn. The intensity grows and a nervous spicy character completes the sweetness: pepper and mustard, adding liveliness to the velvety honey.
