Cori is an ancient town surrounded by a stunning hilly landscape of olive groves and vineyards as far as the eye can see. Traces of both Roman and medieval times are evident, from the ruins of the Temple of Hercules and of Castor and Pollux in the Acropolis, to the narrow streets of the historic center. The Cincinnato Agricultural Cooperative, founded in 1947 by a few dozen farmers with the idea of pooling their strengths and resources to market local wine, is located here. Today, it has 152 members covering a total vineyard area of 450 hectares and has won international recognition, extending from Lazio to much of the world. The grape varieties grown include Nero Buono, native to the Cori area; Bellone, already present in Roman times in the Castelli Romani area; Cesanese, Greco, and Malavasia Puntinata. Cincinnato’s history is one of sharing and dedication to the land, where sustainable agriculture is practiced, with some vineyards completely organic.
