1789 is the Grappa of Barolo Bourbon Finish by Mazzetti d'Altavilla inspired by the noble American whiskey of Kentucky where in 1789 the Reverend Elijah Craig gave the name Bourbon to his own whiskey. From the encounter between the pomace used for Barolo, from which the grappa is distilled, and the ex Bourbon barrels where it ages for more than 18 months, a grappa with a unique 100% Piedmontese aroma is born.
In 1846 Filippo Mazzetti founded his first distillery in Montemagno in the heart of Monferrato, and began to carefully select what in the beginning was considered a waste material from the production of wine: pomace. It was not easy then to recover the best raw materials from the winemakers scattered in the most remote areas of Monferrato, but the determination of Filippo first and his son Luigi then, gave birth to a company philosophy to which we owe the production of grappas among the best in the world. The search for quality and the continuous refinement of distillation techniques, today are the secrets of the success of a sixth-generation distillery capable of telling the whole world the immense sensorial heritage present in every grape of Monferrato.
1789 is the Grappa produced from the pomace of Nebbiolo, the only grape allowed for the production of Barolo, left to rest for more than 18 months in oak barrels used in the past to age the American Bourbon. Hence the woody and aromatic flavor that characterizes a reserve, with spicy toasted and dried fruit scents. Barolo represents the flavors of the Langhe Hills in Piedmont, a UNESCO heritage and a wonderful land devoted to wine, and this Grappa by Mazzetti d’Altavilla distillery reflects the noblest tradition.
