Linkwood 14 yo Sherry Finish Oloroso Wilson & Morgan

The Linkwood distillery is located in Elgin, in the Spyside and is little known to many because the Linkwood distillery is still used in the blends of many important whiskeys such as Johnny Walker, White Horse, but luckily some independent bottlers such as  Wilson & Morgan and others offer it in single malts with various refinements including, the most used, in ex sherry oloroso barrels. The distillery was founded way back in 1821 experiencing moments of success and failure which led to various owners until 1933 when it was acquired by the Scottish Malt distillers.

Wilson & Morgan is an independent bottler who since 1992 selects the best single malts to continue aging in ex sherry, marsala or bourbon barrels. The result is decidedly superior: young whiskeys, capable of thrilling with their sincere and sincere intensity and rare single malts in limited and numbered editions, aged up to 40 years. A collection created by connoisseurs for true enthusiasts: the intensity and genuine character of the typical production areas can be found in the Wilson & Morgan whiskeys.

The Linkwood 14 Wilson & Morgan sherry finish oloroso has been left at full grade to let its dark side be known, enriching it with the contribution of the barrels of some of the driest Oloroso sherry to obtain a bold contrast between the spiciness of the wine and the muscular roundness some whiskey. The final result is definitely oriented towards sherry with an inviting, spicy,
hazelnut and with all kinds of yellow and red fruits (cherries, peaches, apricots, raspberries), absolutely seductive. And on the palate, thanks to the decisive contribution of the cask, the character of the sherry is amplified. Very dry, fairly tannic, nutty and astringent, it’s total Oloroso goodness. Add some water, though, and start relaxing, revealing its softer, sweeter, and fruity side.
