Pecorino is a native vine that has been cultivated in the Marche in the Ascoli countryside since Roman times in the 2nd century BC. The color is an intense straw yellow, while the bouquet is characterized by floral and ripe fruit aromas. In the mouth it is structured, persistent, savory and with the right degree of acidity.
The history of the Colonnara cooperative brings us back to 1959, when a passionate group of 19 winemakers founded the winery in Cupramontana, on the Marche region hills where verdicchio reigns. The passion for the land and the obsessive care for the vineyard were the secret that led the winery today to count 110 members who cultivate 120 hectares of vineyards according to an eco-sustainable and nature-friendly approach.
Pecorino by Colonnara comes from the vineyards of the province of Ascoli Piceno on mainly clayey hilly soils at 200 meters above sea level. The harvest is manual, followed by the soft pressing of the grapes, fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature, and subsequent rest on the noble lees. A still white ideal with seafood and crustaceans.
