It is one of the oldest estates in the M\u00e9doc. The name is derived from the battle (\u201ebataille\u201c) – that took place where the chateau and vineyard are today – during the 100-years war in the in 1452. In this battle, the French re-conquered the neighbouring Chateau Latour from the English, a crucial point in the history of Aquitaine. A few years later the first vines were planted on this historical and blood soaked grounds. Chateau Batailley\u2019s garden was designed by Barillet-Deschamps, Napoleon III\u2019s garden architect. In 1855 Napoleon III created the classification for the Grands Crus Class\u00e9s of the Medoc. And Batailley was knighted Grand Cru.<\/p>\n
Only manual harvest in open wooden boxes, the fermentation lasts from 15 to 20 days, stopping in barriques for about 18 months in oak barrels for half new.<\/p>\n
Fragrance, fruitiness, complexity and notes of spicy aromas, affirm a rare personality to be found in other wines. A great classic of the Bordeaux tradition, a well structured Pauillac, with a ruby color, with pronounced notes of blackcurrant.<\/p>\n
