Vignamato is a long-established estate at San Paolo di Jesi, in the heart of the Marche, founded in the 1940s out of the Ceci family’s passion. Today, across three generations, the winery continues to champion the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi area with a way of working that is attentive to tradition, to organic farming and to the authentic expression of the Verdicchio grape. Versus is an IGT Marche Bianco made from Incrocio Bruni 54, a rare variety created in 1936 by the ampelographer Bruno Bruni by crossing Verdicchio and Sauvignon Blanc. The wine expresses perfectly what is particular about both parents: floral and fruity aromatics on one side, structure and verticality on the other. Fermented in steel at controlled temperature, it gives an elegant, fresh and lingering sip. In the glass it shows a luminous straw yellow with golden glints. On the nose come scents of green apple, citrus, white fruit and light grassy and floral shades. In the mouth it is fresh, savoury, harmonious and well balanced, with a pleasant mineral length. Excellent as an aperitif, it goes beautifully with seafood starters, fish salads, shellfish, seafood pasta, sushi, grilled vegetables and delicate fish dishes.
