Rum Caroni 1997

Following the closure of the distillery experts and enthusiasts had the opportunity to visit the old warehouse containing hundreds of barrels of rum, some dating back to 1974, used to cut the youngest rum. The Bristol bought some barrels at the time of different vintages and then bottled, offering the chance to discover an incredible rum, a great piece of history of a country. Rum from light and golden color. The nose prevails a feeling of brown sugar and spices. In the mouth alcoholic note is soft thanks to the long period of aging, the taste is full and spicy with a long finish that invites another sip. The cantinaLo purpose of Bristol Classic Rum is the search for small quantities of fine rums, sometimes only individual barrels of a single distillery or a seal.

A well-known rum from Bristol Spirits is back — Caroni 1997! But notice this Caorni is bottled in 2017 and therefore one year older than the earlier Caroni rum from Bristol Spirits, which was bottled in 2016.

This rum was distilled at the Caroni Distillery in Trinidad on their great column still, it is a classic example of their ’HTR’ Heavy Type Rum. This small batch bottling from a 1997 distillation, has been bottled at cask strength showing all the quality and depth of flavour for which this distillery was famours for. With fruit and wood on the palate, the high spirit carries you to a long finish.

A classic Caroni rum with a dry character and a complex nose with wood, fruit and spice. This shows on the palate with good length and style. You will feel notes of dried fruits like banana, blackcurrant, apples and toasted hazelnut, tobacco, coffee and fresh leather
