The Marchesi di Montalto company is located in Montalto Pavese in the central Oltrepò Pavese, a vast hilly area in Lombardy devoted to wine and wedged between the regions of Piedmont, Emilia and Liguria. The history of the winery dates back to the 1960s, but it's with Dr. Gabriele Marchesi in the 90s who takes on the current connotations, after a profound restructuring that begins with the vineyards themselves, focusing on the cultivation of the two main grape varieties of the territory: Pinot Nero and Riesling Renano. The old oak barrels are joined by innovative thermo-controlled stainless steel tanks, and the imposing underground tank dating back to the 1800s is transformed into a unique cellar for the refermentation of Metodo Classico sparkling wines, in a stimulating chase between tradition and innovation.

Reissende Tiere single vine grappa from the Marchesi di Montalto cellars is the work of "Kaiser" Gianni Vittorio Capovilla, embodying all the skill in the art of distillation, and produced in bain-marie with alembic pot stills. Fresh pomace comes from Montalto Pavese, the heart of the italian "Riesling Valley", from which a distillate is obtained which contains the flavors of an entire territory and its traditions.
