The Ferrero farm is located in area Podere Pascena, about halfway between Sant'Angelo in Colle and San Angelo Scalo, two villages on the slopes exposed to the south of the town of Montalcino. The business center consists of a farm built in Traditional stone in early 1900 and renovated in the 80s, used the first floor as a dwelling, on the ground floor instead of in the cellar along with processed agricultural outbuildings recently for vinification and aging cellars of Brunello. The vineyard, situated at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level, covering an area of 3 ha. The soil is medium clay, poor and limestone. The training system is spurred cordon with a spacing of 2.4 m x 90 cm plant, for a density of 4,600 plants / ha. They are used only organic fertilizer (manure and cover crop in the winter months), and those should be restricted doses, expressing Sangiovese at most only a very limited fertilization. Fundamental is the prevendemmiale thinning, evaluating screw to screw the balance essential for the successful perfectly ripe grapes. The yield, even in good years, it never reaches the maximum 80q established by the product, but settles generally between 50 and 60 kg of grapes per hectare. In harvesting the grapes are left not perfect. The fermentation lasts about 15 days, with more intense pumping over in the first week (2 times a day) and two delestages the 3rd and the 5th day. After the malolactic (December) the young wine is transferred to wooden: barrels of 15, 20 and 30 hl oak barrels and a small part, all in French oak. The presenter Claudia Ferrero, Piedmontese by birth, he attended the famous Alba wine school and moved to Montalcino in 1985. He currently divides between the roles of wife, mother of three girls and his real passion, the vineyard, of which He takes charge in every detail. Deep ruby red color of good intensity, from the ethereal, complex. The fragrance of a great Sangiovese is in good balance with intriguing notes of wood, both accentuated by fascinating evolution. On the palate the impressive body wraps gracefully an important tannic structure, reinforced by a fresh acidity in the classic "hard but clean." The long harmonious aftertaste gives heat and nobility feelings.
