Rocca di Frassinello

The Rocca di Frassinello winery was born from an ambitious project with a simple idea: to invest in a new territory in the center of the Maremma, with lands similar to those of the most famous wine areas of Tuscany, but with different temperatures. Thus, in the enchanting scenery of the Maremma, Rocca di Frassinello is dedicated to the creation of blends of native and international vines. It is one of the rare cases of an Italian-French joint venture in the production of wine. On the one hand Paolo Panerai founder of Castellare di Castellina, on the other the Baron Eric de Rothschild Lafite, one of the most famous names in the world of French wines. An ambitious project crowned by great labels. One of the greatest architects in the world designed the new cellar: Renzo Piano.

Rocca di Frassinello is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangioveto (synonymous with Sangiovese), on the one hand the French vines, on the other one of the most famous Tuscan varieties of black berried grapes. The harvest of the Merlot grapes takes place in August, while in September for Cabernet and Sangioveto. The vinification is in steel, while the aging is in 80% new barriques for at least 14 months, to which are added another 11 months in the bottle. A wine of excellence since the first harvest in 2004, destined to reap success wherever there is competition.
