Cerbaiona is a 17th century manor house complete with a chapel and a Renaissance garden on a plot 400 meters above sea level north-east of Montalcino, which borders Pienza and overlooks Monte Amiata in the earth of Tuscany. A wonderful place where the best Sangiovese of the area was cultivated even before the denomination "Brunello di Montalcino". A real cru that thanks to a galestro soil with a sand tip, has always given life to unique and incomparable grapes. In 1977 Diego Molinari bought it, arrived from Rome, who with the help of his neighbors replanted and enlarged the vineyard, to produce the first vintage in 1981, which 4 years later was then labeled as Brunello di Montalcino. In the following decades Cerbaiona became a cult brand for Brunello, representing its true essence. In the winter of 2015 Diego Molinari at the age of 84 sold the company to a group of investors led by the American wine collector Gary Rieschel, the new manager of the estate Matthew Fioretti and from 2016 the expert of the Montalcino vineyards Maurizio Bovini. Since the end of 2015 Cerbaiona has converted to organic agriculture and continues faithful to its original vision, and even more faithful to the unique terroir of its vineyards.
