Vino Nobile di Montepulciano

The La Braccesca estate extends over 508 hectares where the ancient farm of the Bracci counts once stood, hence the name of the estate and its coat of arms: an arm covered with armor holding a sword. Since 1990 the estate has been owned by the Marchesi Antinori. The total area of ​​the vineyards is 340 hectares divided into two parts: the first, of 366 hectares of which 237 are planted with vineyards, is located on the border between the municipality of Montepulciano and that of Cortona. The other plot, 142 hectares of which 103 are vineyards, extends up to Montepulciano between three of the most renowned sub-areas for the production of great red wines: Cervognano, Santa Pia and Gracciano. The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG is born from a soil rich in skeleton and sandy loam, born from the union of the historic Sangiovese variety with a small amount of Merlot, in the best sub-areas of the appellation, for a Vino Nobile with a strong, balanced and elegant character.

The grapes, harvested separately by variety, were de-stemmed and softly pressed and transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 28 ° C to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The maceration, which lasted for 10 days, was managed in a controlled way with interventions aimed at enhancing the structure, extracting only the sweetest tannins. The wine obtained was transferred to large barrels, where the malolactic fermentation took place and where, from the spring following the harvest, the maturation process began, lasting about 12 months. Following bottling, which took place in the spring of 2020, the wine underwent a further refinement of about a year.

The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano La Braccesca has a ruby ​​red color. The nose reveals pleasant hints of fruit, sensations of raspberry and plum combined with sweet notes reminiscent of vanilla. On the palate it is well balanced, soft, characterized by silky and ripe tannins. The finish is long and persistent.
