Quona

The I Veroni farm is located in the heart of Chianti. Founded in 1500 by the Gatteschi family who equipped the estate with the equipment to make wine, now the company has been run by the Malesci family since 1800. I Veroni is distinguished by the care of the vineyards that produce mainly native organic grapes. The yeasts used are indigenous, always to respect the territory and to produce wines that have roots that go back to the past.

Quona chianti Rùfina Riserva I Veroni is produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes from a single vineyard perched around the ancient parish church of San Martino in Quona on the southern slope of the Chianti Rùfina territory replanted with a selection of autochthonous Sangiovese from old vineyards present in agency. The Quona vineyard has been producing grapes for the I Veroni reserve since the 1996 harvest.

The grapes, after soft crushing-destemming and ferment with indigenous yeasts in Slavonian oak fermenters. The stay on it lasts about 3/5 days in order to extract color and perfume and subsequently ferment and macerate on the skins for another 20 days at a controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation takes place in 20-hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels and subsequently the passage in French oak barrels for 18 months, finally 12 months in the bottle.

The Chianti Rùfina Riserva Quona I Veroni has an intense purple red. On the nose
it is very fine with hints of black fruits, ripe red fruit, spicy aromas, notes of tobacco and a limited presence of oak. Full and velvety on the palate, with a dense texture with a well integrated tannic component, long in the finish.
