The history of the Frescobaldi family dates back to medieval Florence and Tuscany, greatly influencing their history for centuries to come. Patrons were responsible for the construction of the Santa Trinità bridge in Florence and the Basilica Santo Spirito, and the works of the famous musician of the 1700s Girolamo Frescobaldi conquered the whole Europe. In the world of wine they were considerably influential since 1855, introducing transalpine vines in Tuscany such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, and making a decisive contribution to the development and notoriety of Tuscan viticulture. Today, in the numerous estates owned by the Frescobaldi family, wine is produced with great attention to the terroir of origin, respect for the diversity of the territories, environmental sustainability and the promotion of Tuscan culture through each single label and the countless experiences to be lived at each individual estate.

Santa Maria is a Morellino di Scansano produced with Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes in the hilly vineyards of the province of Grosseto in Tuscany. The vinification and subsequent aging is in steel for about 10 months, followed by a further refinement in the bottle for 2 months. It's a young red with great dynamism that goes perfectly with stewed meats and medium-aged cheeses.
