The history of the Frescobaldi family dates back to medieval Florence and Tuscany, greatly influencing their history for centuries to come. Patrons were responsible for the construction of the Santa Trinità bridge in Florence and the Basilica Santo Spirito, and the works of the famous musician of the 1700s Girolamo Frescobaldi conquered the whole Europe. In the world of wine they were considerably influential since 1855, introducing transalpine vines in Tuscany such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, and making a decisive contribution to the development and notoriety of Tuscan viticulture. Today, in the numerous estates owned by the Frescobaldi family, wine is produced with great attention to the terroir of origin, respect for the diversity of the territories, environmental sustainability and the promotion of Tuscan culture through each single label and the countless experiences to be lived at each individual estate.

The Vinsanto Quaranta Altari di Frescobaldi vintage 2015 is an extraordinary wine thanks to the long summer, the favorable climate, especially when the grapes ripen, determining an unusual sugar and aromatic concentration. The name is due to a bizarre episode dating back to the 1600s which had Bartolomeo Frescobaldi as its protagonist who, in order to be forgiven by the Pope following a rather libertine reception in the villa of Montecastello, promised Pope Clement XI the construction of 40 churches in Tuscany. It's a perfect wine to combine with a good dessert to be served in large glasses.
