The Batàr is one of the most appreciated Italian wines, a faithful expression of the Tuscan hills of Ruffoli in Greve in Chianti. Born from a blend of two french vines such as Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay, it's pleasant on the palate with a marked minerality, fruity notes of peach and yellow melon, and seduces at the first sip confirming its ambition of internationally famous wine.
With sulphites.
The history of the Querciabella wine cellar is strictly connected to the passion for wine and for the land, which unites most of the producers who practice biodynamic agriculture today. It all started in 1974 when Giuseppe Castiglioni, owner of a company in Mexico and a great wine lover, decided to buy a plot of land on the hills of Ruffoli in Greve in Chianti called "Vigna di Querciabella". The idea was to retire himself to the farmhouse immersed in that hectare of vineyards to produce wine for personal use and share it with his closest friends. From that dream was born one of the most renowned and innovative wineries in Tuscany, one of the first in Italy that was converted in 1988 to organic farming first and then to biodynamic farming in the 2000s, thanks to Sebastiano Castiglioni, Giuseppe's son. Right now, from that first hectare purchased originally, the company owns 100 hectares in one of the most famous wine areas of Tuscany where the Chianti Classico reigns, on the border with the Maremma, and from that initial will of Giuseppe Castiglioni to cultivate not only Sangiovese, as the main vine, but also the international vines Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco, todays are produced such excellent wines that have made the Querciabella winery famous all over the world.
The Batàr by Querciabella is produced on the hills of Ruffoli in Greve in Chianti from vineyards cultivated according to biodynamic agriculture since 2000, organic since 1988, at 350-600 meters above sea level. On this soil they found that rare balance that gives rise to excellent quality Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio grapes with low yields, whose musts are fermented in french oak barique, and the wine continues to mature in the same barriques on its own yeast for nine months. Only after a long refinement the best lots are chosen to be destined to the final cuvée composed in equal measure by Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco. From this accurate process the Batàr Querciabella is born, destined to represent the excellence of the cellar, with an intense yellow color, a perfumed nose with fruity and spicy notes, rich on the palate with a long and persistent finish.
