Paolo Panerai is the enlightened entrepreneur to whom we owe the success of a historic Chianti Classico winery such as Castellare di Castellina, and the birth of the Feudi del Pisciotto winery which extends for 44 hectares on the hills between Caltagirone and Piazza Armerina in the heart of Sicily. The main grape is Nero d'Avola, and the winery is characterized by the historic millstone in which wine was made already at the time of the Greeks and Romans. It's here that 250 meters above sea level, a few kilometers from the coast where a perfect microclimate reigns, the vines are cultivated with obsessive care and excellent wines are produced from Cerasuolo di Vittoria to Frappato, from Chardonnay to Merlot that make Feudi del Pisciotto one of the most significant winemaking realities of the island. Worthy of note is the collection dedicated to the Great Stylists who sign the individual labels in a tribute to wine and fashion, and part of the proceeds from sales are reinvested for the recovery of a Sicilian work of art or monument.

This pure Merlot is born in the vineyards of Niscemi on basically sandy soils that help to delineate the power and structure that distinguish it. The harvest takes place in the last week of August, vinification in steel followed by a first aging in barrique for 10 months, and a second in the bottle for 8 months. A wine that expresses the character of the Sicilian terroir and goes perfectly with white and red meats, aged cheeses.
