Islay is one of the largest islands in Scotland where, fertile lands and pure water of a wonderful and unspoiled landscape caressed by the fresh breeze of the sea waters, has seen the birth of some of the best single malt whiskeys in history.

The Caol Ila distillery was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson. In 1854 it was crossed by Norman Buchanan and in 1863 by Bulloch Lade & C. Ltd. In 1920 it was taken over by a consortium of businessmen that formed the Coal Ila Distillery Company Ltd. and in 1930 the property passed to Scottish Malt Distilleries Ltd: the distillery later came into the possession of the multinational group Diageo.

Wilson & Morgan is an independent bottler who since 1992 selects the best single malts to continue aging in ex sherry, marsala or bourbon barrels. The result is decidedly superior: young whiskeys, capable of thrilling with their sincere and sincere intensity and rare single malts in limited and numbered editions, aged up to 40 years. Il Caol Ila Wilson & Morgan Whiskey 2014 Bourbon Finish 100% U.K. has a powerful approach that derives from a unique combination of intense peat smoke, malty character and creamy sweetness from bourbon barrels. The nose is dark, smoky and full of tar, but also has balsamic echoes: a touch of camphor and resin, probably from wood, and then obviously the unmistakable scent of splashes of waves that make it so maritime. The influence of the bourbon barrels manifests itself on the palate, to be honest, more
with a muscular character and an enveloping texture, which with a simple sweetness or with
notes of vanilla. Here too it is very smoky, tarry and aromatic: pine needles, and a hint
of licorice. A truly powerful peaty whiskey.
