Douglas McGibbon & CO were formed in 1949 and are still proudly independent and family.
Since that year they have built a large assortment of young and old single malt Scotch whiskeys, normally reserved for their various premium blended scotch whiskeys, which are sold worldwide under the McGibbons 'special and premium reserve' blended scotch brand. The two managing directors of the company are the descendants of "auld Dougras" McGibbons who, as the family indicates, had been in charge of the mash house of the long-closed distillery on Loch Indaal on the Isle of Islay. In the traditional style, some say the old-fashioned Douglas McGibbons chose not to color and filter these malts. This allows you to enjoy the full quality of the nose, palate and finish, preferably consumed in a pleasant and unhurried style without ice or mixer, although water can be added to taste. The company malter appreciates these fine single malts and has marked them with chalk and set aside for bottling as fine examples of the art of spirits.
