Primitivo Di Manduria

Masseria Li Veli was born with the project of giving a new life to quality Apulian wines, a region known until the end of the 1990s only for its production of large quantities of grapes per hectare.
It stands on the ruins of an ancient Messapian site dating back to the Middle Ages, where the ancient founder Antonio de Viti de Marco (1858-1943) managed to develop a model winery for the whole of Southern Italy.
Today led by the Falvo family, who have over 40 years of experience in the wine sector, they create excellent wines, in perfect symbiosis with their land, but above all ambassadors of the Salento area and Puglia more generally.

Askos is the name of the Masseria Li Venti project dedicated to research, selection and valorisation of the heritage of native Apulian vines in danger of extinction. The wines are produced exclusively with grapes coming from lands with a particular vocation, in which the grapes are bred according to the canons of an ancient memory. The symbol is an askos, a Greek "decanter" from the 1st century BC.

Askos is a Primitivo di Manduria, grown in the Salento area using only Primitivo grapes, all Primitivo vineyards are arranged in a spurred cordon system on sandy soil with limestone residues.
After harvesting, the grapes are pressed and left to ferment in steel vats, after vinification the wine rests for at least 12 months in French oak containers.

Primitivo Di Manduria from the Masseria Li Veli estate has a deep ruby ​​red color with violet hues. Intense nose, with hints of red fruit, plum, small black and red berries, sweet and fresh spices. On the palate it is sweet and fatty, with a light, long and spicy aftertaste.
