In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash, General company, in London. The company was moved to Vila Nova de Gaia and in 1750 began to trade with the British Isles and the rest of Europe.
The association was dissolved at the end of the century when Henry Burmester Jr. and his sons, founded a new wine company Porto H. Burmester & Sons.
In 1834, for the fact that neither of the two brothers had descendants, Johann Wilhelm Burmester, a family member residing in Hamburg, he was invited to join to 'wine company of Porto.
Years later, in 1880, he changed the name to J. W. Burmester & C °, which has remained unchanged to this day.

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel containers at 26 ° -27 ° C and traditionally fortified with 77% vol. (80% must and 20% brandy).
Intense maceration and delicate automatic reassembly precede aging in large oak barrels for 3 years.

Bright, strong and intense purple red color. Amazing aromas of fresh grapes, with floral and ripe fruit scents. In the mouth it is young and lively, full taste of ripe fruit, sweet and with good structure. High acidity which, together with soft tannins, creates a fruity and persistent finish.
