Prunotto represents an unmistakable pillar in the Italian wine scene, with a history deeply rooted in the Langhe region. Founded in 1904, this winery has been able to combine the centuries-old tradition of Piedmontese viticulture with an innovative and quality-conscious approach, establishing itself as one of the reference producers of red wines of great structure and complexity. Prunotto's origins date back to the beginning of the 20th century, when a group of local winemakers decided to join forces to enhance the winemaking potential of the Langhe. Since then, the company has constantly expanded its vineyard area and refined its winemaking techniques, always maintaining a deep respect for the territory and for the native varieties. The choice to locate the winery in Serralunga d'Alba, the beating heart of Barolo, was strategic and represents a clear reference to the territorial identity of the wines produced. The vineyards, facing south and south-west, enjoy a microclimate that is particularly favorable to the ripening of Nebbiolo grapes, ensuring the production of wines with great longevity and aromatic complexity. Prunotto's production philosophy is based on three fundamental pillars: Respect for tradition, the company is committed to preserving ancient winemaking techniques, enhancing native vines and sustainable agricultural practices. Technological innovation, Prunotto has always invested in cutting-edge technologies to optimize production processes and ensure the highest quality of wines. Attention to detail, each stage of production, from the cultivation of the grapes to the marketing of the wines, is conducted with the utmost care and attention to detail. Over the years, Prunotto has collected numerous awards at a national and international level, confirming itself as one of the most appreciated producers by wine critics and collectors. The company's wines are present on the wine lists of the best restaurants in the world and are considered a point of reference for lovers of Piedmontese wines. Prunotto represents undisputed excellence in the Italian wine scene, a company that combines tradition and innovation, territory and quality. Its wines are the authentic expression of the Langhe, an oenological heritage that must be protected and enhanced.
Barolo Mosconi di Prunotto is a DOCG red wine that embodies the essence of Nebbiolo, a native Piedmontese grape variety, and represents one of the highest expressions of the Barolo denomination. Produced by the historic Prunotto winery, this wine is the fruit of expert work in the vineyard and in the cellar, which translates into a product of the highest quality and complexity. Mosconi di Prunotto comes from a vineyard of the same name located in Monforte d'Alba. The exposure of the vines, from south to south-west, the altitude that varies from 360 to 400 meters above sea level and the white and tuffaceous soil give Nebbiolo an extraordinary aromatic and structural complexity. The unique soil and climate characteristics of this area, combined with the experience of the Prunotto winery, give life to a wine that unmistakably expresses the terroir of Langa. The vinification of Barolo Mosconi follows traditional methods. The grapes, harvested by hand, are destemmed and pressed. Fermentation takes place in steel at a controlled temperature, followed by maceration on the skins for about a week. Subsequently, the wine is transferred to large Slavonian oak barrels for refinement that lasts several years. This long period in wood allows the wine to mature slowly, developing its aromatic complexity and tannic structure.
Intense and lively garnet red color, with orange reflections over time, complex and persistent aroma, with notes of ripe red fruit (cherries, blackberries), spices (black pepper, cloves), undergrowth, licorice, tobacco and floral scents (rose, violet), broad, elegant and structured taste, with silky and well-integrated tannins. The same olfactory sensations are found on the palate, enriched by mineral and balsamic notes. The finish is long and persistent, with a return of fruity and spicy notes. The Barolo Mosconi by Prunotto is a wine of great structure and complexity, perfect for accompanying important and structured dishes. It pairs very well with roasted red meats, game, mature cheeses and white truffle.
