Monupello Nature

The Monsupello farm was born about a century ago, back in 1893 in the locality of Cà del Tava in the municipality of Oliva Gessi. It was later in 1914 that the Boatti family bought another estate called '' Podere La Borla '' in the municipality of Torricella Verzate a few kilometers away. Here they built the same cellar which today has been enlarged, improved and made modern thanks to new production technologies. The company now boasts 50 hectares of owned vineyards to have low yields of grapes per hectare, the manual harvest is carried out exclusively in boxes. An all-Italian company that is constantly evolving according to current market needs, and well oriented to continue the path started by Carletto very well.

I Gelsi Monsupello is produced with Barbera grapes grown in the vineyards in the municipalities of Torricella and Mairano with a good South-West exposure. Low yield and respect for the nature of the vineyards make the Barbera de I Gelsi grapes full of "fruit". For twenty years Monsupello has been practicing grassing between the rows as a technique to give well-being to the vine and the terroir and without using chemical herbicides. Once pressed, the grapes undergo a short cold pre-maceration. Subsequently, after about 12 days of racking, the free-run wine is extracted, which will malolactic and refine in concrete containers. After a short passage in barriques of 2nd and 3rd passage it stabilizes in the cold and then it is filtered and bottled.
