Costa del Nero

Count Augusto Carlo Giorgi of Vistarino was the first to import into Italy in 1850 the Pinot Noir grapes from France by planting them in the vineyard of his Tenuta Rocca de Giorgi, owned by his family since 1674. Through the years and generations the spirit remained the same enthusiast of the beginning, and today the farm extends for 826 hectares of which 200 are vineyards, covering almost the entire territory of the Municipality of Rocca dè Giorgi on the hills of the Oltrepò Pavese in Lombardy, always respecting its typical biodiversity. With the guidance of Ottavia Giorgi of Vistarino wine production has increasingly gone towards the pursuit of quality and environmental sustainability in the sign of the best maintenance of those so prosperous lands. The investment in the technological innovation of the winery in the last 5 years has allowed the company to produce wines of great qualitative level from the vinification of Pinot Noir in red and in white for the spumante bases, preferred by the best Italian sparkling wine companies.

The Costa del Nero Conte Vistarino wine comes from the vineyard which enjoys the second best position for Pinot Noir in the Rocca dè Giorgi estate, in the heart of Oltrepò Pavese. It differs from the Pernice cru for the wine-making process, which in the case of the Costa del Nero is less elaborate. Fermentation takes place in steel and only partially in wood before bottling. Elegant and soft on the palate, it strikes the aroma of red fruits and intense ruby ​​color, confirming the renowned tradition and vocation of the Conte Vistarino winery for Pinot Noir.
