Fieno di Ponza Rosso

The history of the Antiche Cantine Migliaccio winery takes us back in time to 1734 when Charles of Bourbon colonized the Ponza island and assigned the land according to the practice of perpetual emphyteusis to a group of Neapolitan settlers, and to Pietro Migliaccio, from Ischia island, was given the area of Punta ​​Fieno that unlike others was already planted with vines. It was thanks to him that the typical Ischia vineyards Biancolella, Forastera, Guarnaccia, Aglianico and Piedirosso arrived in Ponza, the same ones that today Emanuele Vittorio, descendant of the Migliaccio family, brought to light by releasing them from staves and twigs, thanks to the sheltered position of Punta Fieno which remains today one of the most pristine parts of the island. Thus was born in 2000 the company Antiche Cantine Migliaccio thanks to the work of Emanuele Vittorio and his wife, who produces unique wines that are the repositories of ancient traditions and new-generation wine making techniques, in that stimulating continuous synthesis between past and future.

Fieno di Ponza Rosso it's the red wine by Antiche Cantine Migliaccio produced in Punta di Fieno zone on the island of Ponza, from the hand-picked grapes of the piedirosso, aglianico, guernaccia red and nero d'Avola vines. The only wine in the cellar to be aged partly in French oak barrels for 12 months, then assembled with the wine aged in steel and bottled. Full-bodied and fragrant, with a persistent and spicy finish, it goes very well with good traditional Mediterranean food.
