Plymouth Gin was born in England back in 1793 and is the largest and oldest active distillery in the area, for this reason it has never stopped creating exceptional spirits to try to satisfy and delight any type of palate. The distillery itself is located in the building of the Black Friar, which dates back to the early 1400s, the most intact part of this is the Sala del Refettorio, a medieval room with a fascinating wooden roof in the shape of a hull built in 1431. For these reasons it is one of the oldest buildings of Plymouth Gin and is protected as a precious national monument, not least because today this is also an important center of excellence for the preparation of Gin Cocktail.

The Plymouth Navy Strength Gin celebrates the bond between the distillery and the Royal Navy, a huge buyer of Gin. This was in fact reintroduced in 1993 by Desmond Payne who was asked to create a Special Release commemorating the 200th anniversary of Coates, the original Plymouth manufacturer.
