The story of this gin is an extraordinary tale, which expresses all the passion and creativity that exists in the art of distillation. In the heart of the Black Forest, in German Schwarzwald, lies the Black Forest Distillers, where since 2010 the Monkey 47 has been produced by the Master Distiller Cristopher Keller, who takes up the original recipe of Monty Collins. The commander of the British Royal Air Force Montgomery (Monty) Collins, grew up in India linked to the career of his English diplomatic father, and when the Second World War ended, to which he had participated, he lived for a time in Berlin, there he met and made friends. with the monkey "Max" escaped from the famous zoo of the city. In 51 'he retired to the Black Forest, and could not help but distill his own gin using most of the spices known in India as a child along with local natural ingredients from the Schwarzwald. Thus a gin was born with as many as 47 herbs that were forgotten until the discovery of an old bottle with a hand-drawn label featuring a monkey and the words "Max the Monkey" brought it magically to light. From the respect of that original recipe was born Monkey 47, one of the most famous and appreciated gin in the world.

The Monkey 47 owes its success to the mix of the 47 selected herbs, the pure water of the Black Forest and the double distillation with consequent aging of the gin in terra cotta containers, without any final filtering. This is how one of the best gins in the world is produced, which envelops the palate with notes of juniper and enriches the taste with balsamic notes of pine, peppermint, lavender, eucalyptus, hints of citrus with a slightly bitter finish. A unique aromatic complexity, which is at the same time incredibly balanced.
