The Collection 243 Louis Roederer is a complex, powerful and sharp champagne, a new chapter in the quest for taste, without success. From the taste characterized by a lively freshness, which combines strength and rare elegance in terms of creaminess and aromatic articulation.
With sulphites.
Founded way back in 1776 in Reims, the Louis Roederer winery is among the oldest Champagne houses to remain independent and family-friendly. Thanks to the visionary and innovative thinking of Louis Roederer, who inherited the Maison from his uncle in 1833 and from which it will take its name, the French winery expands its horizons and instead of settling for supply contracts to buy grapes from others, expands its vineyard , selecting and purchasing the best Champagne Grand Cru soils. Louis Roederer was convinced, in fact, that the true essence of a good wine resided in the earth and that it was therefore important to take care of it through a “made-to-measure viticulture”. Respecting biodiversity and leaving room for the principles of biodynamics, the 240 hectares of vineyards of the French winery, which are located in the center of the three main territories of Champagne, offer a rich and wide range of combinations: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, are these are the three vines that coexist in the Louis Roederer estate. Although Louis Roederer champagnes were already famous and exported all over the world, it was only in 1876 that the maison began to have greater prestige. At the request of the Tsar of Russia Alexander II, the Louis Roederer Cristal cuvée was born, still recognized today as the flag of the cellar thanks to its finesse and elegance.
The Collection 243 Louis Roederer is a champagne with a dominant presence of Chardonnay, mirror of the grape's success in the 2017 harvest, to which 10% of reserve wines aged in wood have been added (2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016) and 34% of perennial reserves (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018). The second fermentation in the bottle was followed by a stop on the lees for at least 4 years before disgorgement and 30% of the assembly underwent malolactic fermentation. Finally, it is aged in the cellar for 3 years.
The Collection 243 Louis Roederer is a living brut, more contemporary than ever. The very ripe grapes give the blend notes of ripe and sweet fruit ennobled by precious woody notes. On the palate it is ripe, and generous, the Pinot Noirs and Meunier from the Marne Valley emphasize the gourmet and velvety allure, making the sip large and juicy. Excellent freshness and dynamism on the finish.
